Walking Pilgrimage to the Holy Mount Jawor - 21-22 July 2016

The annual Greek Catholic celebrations in the Protection of the Mother of God Chapel on the Mount Jawor take place on Friday, 22 of July, 2016, which is the first day of the Lemko Cultural Festival "Watra", held in the village of Zdynia, 25 km away from Wysowa (www.watrazdynia.pl). This festival gathers together Rusyns scattered all over Poland and abroad.

This year, on the day preceding the celebrations on the Mount Jawor, that is on Thursday, 21 of July, 2016, the Walking Pilgrimage to the Mother of God will start from Zdynia.

The Pilgrimage route is 23 km long and leads mostly through easily passable roads. The expected total walking time is 7 hours and 30 minutes, in addition to 1 hour and 30 minutes of planned breaks. Halfway through the route, there will be an access to a highway and a possibility to take an emergency shortcut.

On our way, we will visit the Greek Catholic cemetery by the ruins of church in Regietow, where we will celebrate panichida. We will also visit the church in Kwiaton. The overnight accommodation of pilgrims is planned in the school in Wysowa (mattresses needed).

On Friday, 22 of July, at 9:30 am, in front of the Chapel at the apparitions site, the Moleben to the Mother of God will start, followed by the Pontifical Divine Liturgy.
